Dinosaur National Monument Academic Fee Waiver
Vernal (Jensen, ~20 mi east) · K–12 (under 16 always free) · Email the Academic Fee Waiver Request (with curriculum + state-requirement docs) to dino_fees@nps.gov at least 2 weeks ahead
Dinosaur National Monument's Quarry Exhibit Hall — a cliff face of roughly 1,500 Jurassic dinosaur bones you can walk up and touch — is one of the country's best paleontology field trips. Uniquely, the park's academic fee waiver names home schools as eligible: meet your state's homeschool requirements and apply with your course of study, and the entrance fee is waived. It takes paperwork and lead time, but kids under 16 already enter free.
Regular admission: $25/vehicle (or $15/person) — Entrance fee waived for approved homeschool educational visits
Note: Apply at least two weeks ahead by emailing the Academic Fee Waiver Request to dino_fees@nps.gov with your course of study; each vehicle needs a copy of the approved waiver. Free ranger-guided programs may be available as staffing allows.
